TEXAS (FOX 44) - Auto theft is a big money crime in Texas. According to the state Department of Motor Vehicles, "65,000 cars and trucks are stolen and almost 200,000 are burglarized each year." But not all vehicles are as susceptible to break-ins and theft across the state. Several factors raise the risk of your vehicle becoming a target. Here are some of the key considerations: LocationIt may seem obvious, but a vehicle parked safely in your garage is less likely to be targeted than one on the street. Cars parked outside of homes are common targets for car thieves, according to law enforcement. NASSAU, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Schenectady man was arrested and is accused of forcibly entering a home and burglarizing it. William Thompson, 53, is also accused of strangulation, among other things. On Sunday, around 12:18 a.m., New York State Police responded to a Nassau home for a report of an altercation. Police say Thompson knew the victim and forcibly entered their house without permission. Thompson allegedly refused to leave and caused physical damage to them, as well as their home and car. GRANVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Saturday night, the Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal crash on Route 22. The two-passenger vehicle crash is still under investigation. The second was operated by Doran J. Pratt, 56, of Hampton. Joshua E. Wood, 40, of Hampton, was a passenger in Pratt's vehicle.Pauquette and Wood were confirmed to be deceased on the scene. ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Two new pumas are coming to the Saint Louis Zoo. Russet and Yukon are siblings that were found in the Idaho wilderness after being orphaned as cubs. They spent years living at the Elmwood Park Zoo near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.Yukon is a female mountain lion and Russet is a male. WCAU-TV reports that the beloved cougars are coming to Big Cat Country at the Saint Louis Zoo to, "ensure that their comfort and well-being are maintained."The cougars were shy after being introduced to the zoo as cubs. They spent their early years in a mostly off-exhibit. Vail Resorts has plans to transform the way guests select and pick up rental gear with the creation of a unique program called My Epic Gear, revealing the concept in a news release on Monday.Users will be able to select the gear they want to rent through an app and it will be delivered to them if they are staying at lodging within a resort area.
