OAKLAND — A vacant East Oakland warehouse damaged in a fire less than a month ago was left gutted Wednesday morning by a two-alarm blaze, officials said.Squatters are suspected to have played roles in both fires, officials said.Wednesday’s fire at the building at the intersection of 29th Avenue and East 12th Street erupted about 5:25 a.m.When the first of some 40 firefighters arrived at the site flames were coming through the roof and a wall collapsed.Firefighters had to force entry through a fence around the building to get better access, officials said.Because of the instability of the building, firefighters did not go inside the structure to battle the blaze, but used ground and aerial hose lines to put water on it, Fire Battalion Chief James Bowron said.Firefighters were also hampered by downed power lines, officials said. The fire was declared under control at 6:35 a.m. No firefighters were injured.Related ArticlesCrashes and Disasters | Vegetation fire da...

If the city council approves the contract, FBD Vanguard Construction will install a variety of safety features that include high visibility crosswalks and speed indicator signs.
