This is California's 'worst' intersection, Reddit users say

Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 19:11:08 GMT

Even the most seasoned drivers in Los Angeles would encourage anyone to avoid this intersection if they can. The infamous intersection of Fairfax Avenue, Olympic Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard in Los Angeles was considered to be the “worst” intersection in California by Reddit users.Unlike a typical six-way intersection with coordinated traffic signals telling drivers when they can proceed, San Vicente crosses Fairfax Avenue and then crosses Olympic Boulevard, meaning drivers must wait through two light cycles to cross one intersection. Why have traffic fatalities increased in California when more people are leaving the state? Known as the “Fairfax Asterisk” to locals, many L.A. drivers have complained that the intersection gives them anxiety.“This one is right by my house and it stresses me out,” one Reddit user shared.“Yes, I hate this intersection,” another user commented. “We have to drive through it to reach one of our doctor’s offices and when I remember to, I usually g...

Crawford, who returned from Tommy John surgery this season to pitch in 13 games with 2.84 ERA between Single-A San Jose and High-A Eugene, will exclusively serve as a hitter in the fall.Crawford, 22, logged 19 innings on the mound but only 17 at-bats, recording four hits, including his first home run at a full-season affiliate. His hitting was all but shut down following his promotion, and now in the AFL will shift gears. His pitching progression is complete for the season, farm director Kyle Haines said, so his focus in the fall league will be on getting hitting reps. The other first-rounder is right-hander...

Review: ‘Mortal Kombat 1’ hits reset on the franchise — with mixed results

Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 19:11:08 GMT

The smartest thing that Warner Bros. Games did with the “Mortal Kombat” franchise was start from the beginning. The ninth main installment of the series was a reboot that retold the events of the first three games and offered a clean slate.Since then, the “Mortal Kombat” series has gotten messier following the steps of another Warner Bros. property — the DC universe. And much like the superhero comics, the fighting game is again getting a reboot, but it’s not cleaning much up. In fact, “Mortal Kombat 1” is making things a little more complicated. The 12th franchise installment follows the events of “Mortal Kombat 11” when Liu Kang defeated Kronika and became the new Keeper of Time. With that power, he remade the universe and its six realms. He also decided to fix some of the more tragic events of the past. He made peace between Sub Zero and Scorpion and steered the franchise’s villains down paths of harmless anonymity....
